International Baccalaureate Extended Essay: Annotated Bibliography

What Is an Annotated Bibliography?

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents that you have found to use in your research paper. These may be articles, books, websites, etc. Each citation is followed by a brief description and an evaluation, which is called the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

The Online Writing Lab (OWL) of Purdue University as well as Carnegie Mellon University provide some samples of an annotated bibliography.
